• 2024 Silver Award, Society of American Travel Writers, Western Chapter (SATW), for the blog posts: “Straddling Two Hemispheres” (New Zealand), “A Powerful Feminine Presence in Athens,” and “Anne Frank and Me” (the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam).

• 2024 Silver Award, Society of American Travel Writers, Western Chapter, for the short feature, "Bathing by the Bosporus” (Istanbul, Hamman story).

2020 Lowell Thomas Journalism Award, Silver, for the “Los Angeles Times” essay, June 2109, for the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

The prestigious Lowell Thomas Awards celebrate excellence in travel journalism. The awards are open to travel journalists and communicators worldwide and are considered one of the premier professional award programs. 

2020 WILLA Award, Finalist, for Beautiful Courage, a debut Young Adult novel.

The WILLA Literary Award, named in honor of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Willa Cather, recognizes the best in literature published each year, featuring women’s or girls’ stories set in the North American West.

2020 Bronze Award, Society of American Travel Writers, Western Chapter, for a “France Today” magazine photo essay, for the 75th anniversary of D-Day, June 2019.

2019 Gold Award, Society of American Travel Writers, Western Chapter, for the memoir, Finding Gilbert, A Promise Fulfilled (2018).
